Your iPhone 6s can do some pretty cool things with the Facebook app now

When Apple launched its iPhone 6s and 6s Plus in September, the smartphone maker introduced a few new features. A couple of them, Live Photos and 3D Touch, got a lot of media attention.

Yet, those features left a lot of people wondering at first why they’d want to create a GIF-type mini movie every time you take a picture. Or, with 3D Touch, how a pressure-sensitive touch screen would come in handy.

Four months later, outside of weighing food and a few other things, 3D Touch is still a bit of a mystery for a lot of people. However, Facebook is about to seriously change that.

Starting this week, it’s slowly introducing its peek and pop feature that’ll incorporate 3D Touch. If you’re using Facebook on an iPhone 6s or 6s Plus, you’ll soon be able to get different information, depending on how hard you press down on the screen.

That includes pressing lightly on a photograph or a friend’s profile, to see a preview of them. Press harder and the photo or profile will open. You’ll also be able to lightly touch to get a preview of the contents of website link, then press harder to open the page.
