This HUGE change on Twitter helps you weed out lame posts

With 320 million monthly users, you’d think Twitter would be perfectly fine with itself, as it is. But the social media site best known for its 140-character posts has been struggling.

One of its co-founders recently came back to the company, CEO Jack Dorsey, to jump-start its lagging subscriber growth, ad revenue and stock market price. Worse, at the same time, competitors like Facebook, Instagram and Snapchat are surging.

So, here comes Twitter’s biggest change ever. Starting today, the timeline you see will show about a dozen Twitter posts that you’ve missed. Twitter is using an algorithm to determine which tweets you missed that you wish you hadn’t.

Note: There’s an expression for that, FOMO: Fear Of Missing Out.

Its new timeline is similar to its While You Were Away function. This new timeline will activate when you’ve been gone for a while. Underneath the dozen or so best-of tweets that you missed, you’ll see Twitter posts in reverse chronological order, as you always have.

Twitter’s new timeline is available today, but it won’t automatically be the timeline for a few more days. Look for a message from Twitter like, “Never miss an important tweet.” But you can turn it on.

Don’t worry if you don’t like the new Twitter timeline. You can turn it on or off.

From your computer, click on your profile picture in the upper right-hand corner (see image below). From Settings, find your Account >> Content >> Timeline >> choose, Show Me the Best Tweets First.

Note: See second image below for iOS and Android instructions.
